Day 557:
Boost your self-esteem by doing a body scan meditation.
Welcome to the one hundred and ninety-third day of our second volume of
this series. On the corresponding day of the first volume we had:
Boost
your self-esteem by going with the wind until you are strong enough.....
Human beings are body/mind/soul/spirit as an integral unity. Thus anything
we do to alter any of these aspects of our being will alter the other aspects.
When we look after our bodies, we look after our mind and soul and we respect
our spirit. As far as our self-esteem is concerned anytime we look after ourselves,
we are saying to ourselves that we are valuable.
Earlier we started the current series of looking after your body by suggesting
you drink
at least eight glasses of water each day. Next we continued by looking
at colorful fruits and vegetables which are full of antioxidants and help
keep us young.
Today we continue with a meditation (guided visualization) which makes use
of the body/mind connection:
As with all guided visualizations this needs to be done at a time when you
will not be disturbed and in a quite, peaceful space. Start with taking a few
deep breaths to relax your mind and body. Now starting with your feet scan each
part of your body. As you scan each part, talk to the part and finally thank
the part. I am going to give a few example. Use your own words:
- Feet, how are you? I want to thank you for carrying me all the time.
Please protect yourself and heal yourself.
- Ankles, how are you doing? I thank you for the wonderful work you are
doing for me.
- Continue up the body. I want to give a few examples with your internal
organs....
- Heart, how are things going? You are doing such a wonderful job for me,
pumping all that excellent healing blood in my veins and arteries. Thank you
heart for doing such a wonderful job for me.....
- Lungs, thanks for breathing for me. Thank you for the oxygen and getting
rid of carbon dioxide. Please cooperate with my heart and the rest of my cardiovascular
system....
Continue scanning your body until you reach the top of your head. Include
all your internal organs. As you scan your body if you feel (intuit) any problems
with any part of your body note it and discuss that part of your body with your
physician on your next visit. Chances are that it is nothing to be concerned
about. However, there are time that you may become aware of potential problems
through this meditation before they are discovered by other means.
Please write to us about today's
piece. I hope most of you approve but we would love to hear from all. This
web site is as much yours as it is ours. Your feedback will help us improve
it for you. Many thanks....
Namaste means "the Divinity within me salutes the Divinity within you...."
