Day 448:
Boost your self-esteem by rereading a book you read as a child.
Welcome to the eighty-third day of our second volume of this series. On
the corresponding day of the first volume we had:
Rejoice.... Another
door opens....
We have written about many groups of methods of boosting your self-esteem.
One group of methods is based on having fun. When you have fun, your
self-esteem improves. Today we suggest you have fun by reading a book you enjoyed
reading as a child. When you do that you may notice all sorts of nuances that
you never did when you first read the book.
I have read "The Little Prince," at least four times at different
ages and each time I enjoyed the book but had four different experiences. I
am determined to read it in the original French next time. I am about to listen
to "Alice in Wonderland," as an audio-book.
Actually I never read Alice when I was a child. I left Iran when was ten
and continued my education in England. Thus I missed out on many books which
were not translated to Farsi (the main language of Iran) and by the time I was
proficient in English I was too old for children's books. Thus I first read
many children's book as an adult. I still had great fun reading these books.
So I would like to suggest that you also look at those books you desired
to read when you were young and for some reason or other you missed out on.
Perhaps your parents or teachers did not approve of a certain genre that you
really liked and they denied you the opportunity to enjoy some books. Perhaps
there was a book which all your friends read and for some reason you could not
read, now you have the opportunity to catch up.
Please write to us about today's
piece. I hope most of you approve but we would love to hear from all. This
web site is as much yours as it is ours. Your feedback will help us improve
it for you. Many thanks....
Namaste means "the Divinity within me salutes the Divinity within you...."
